Is there a 3 day cure for bacterial vaginosis? It may seem like a wild claim but if you suffer with bacterial vaginosis commonly known as BV then you will be thinking I hope its true.
First of all, what is bacterial vaginosis or BV? Bacterial vaginosis is an unbalance of the bacteria within the vagina. Its not an infection just purely an inflammation caused by higher levels of the bad bacteria know as Gardnerella. There is always bacteria present within the vagina its just the unbalance of this bacteria that causes the inflammation.
So what are the symptoms? Well you almost always get a vaginal discharge, this can be anything from grey, white or even yellowish in color. The discharge is usually accompanied by a foul odor. This fishy odor is more prominent straight after sexual intercourse. Another symptom is itching, this can vary from case to case but can be anything from a slight but bearable itch to a full blown unbearable itch. This itching usually brings about a swelling to the vagina but this is not always present. Some women will also get associated stomach pain and a burning sensation during urination but this is not always the case. It has to be said that a women can have bacterial vaginosis with some, none or all of these symptoms and each case is different.
If you have bacterial vaginosis you will want to get it cleared up as fast as possible and the usual method for this is a visit to your doctor. They will most probably prescribe you a course of antibiotics, there are many antibiotics to choose from but some people do react badly to them. The most popular antibiotics for treatment of bacterial vaginosis are. Ampicillin, Ceftriaxone, Clindamycin, Metronidazole and Tetracycline. Other methods of treatment include application directly to the vagina of various anti-microbial products, creams etc. Or even simply abstaining from sex while the infection / imbalance cures itself.
There are a few things that are best avoided while treating bacterial vaginosis and they are. Alcohol, coffee, fast foods, processes foods, to much refined food (bread pasta etc) and stay away from saturated fats. Basically eat well with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit with plenty of water and the chances are you may well clear your bacterial vaginosis in 3 days.
